I try to get this newsletter out each
season, but I never quite make it. I get involved with writing to meet
my deadlines and with my family, and neglect just about everything
else. I think the internet is partly responsible, but we won’t get
into that.
During 2009, I’ve written three romance novels, a romance
novella and a book of mainstream women’s fiction. All will be out
sometime in 2010. For me, the good news was a contract that allowed
me to continue the Harrington series for Kimani Arabesque. The first
three books, Once In a Lifetime, After The Loving, and
Love Me or Leave Me garnered a large following, and I am
happy to announce that book four, Love Me Tonight, will be
published in 2010.
At a time when some publishers are pulling back, I am
proud to say that Harlequin/Kimani Arabesque is reprinting my
Arabesque backlist of book originally published by Kensington
Publishing Corp and BET Books. So, many of my formerly out-of-print
Arabesque titles are now available, including OBSESSION, BEYOND
DESIRE, SECRET DESIRE, FOOLS RUSH, IN SWEPT AWAY and SCARLET
WOMAN. Look for others to follow.
In June 2010, Kimani Arabesque will publish Yes, I Do,
an anthology of three of my novellas. The stories focus on weddings,
though the characters reach the altar by very dissimilar routes.
October saw the release of my eighth mainstream women’s
fiction novel, which I contracted to write for Kensington Publishing
Corp. I am particularly proud of this book, A CHANGE HAD TO COME,
because I believe I succeeded in creating my favorite kind
of man—a tough, capable and strong alpha male who is both tender and
vulnerable. I predict readers will love Max Baldwin.
I have launched a new contest, which I hope will help us
move into the spirit of the Christmas season. So please go to my web
site, click on Contest, and PLEASE read the instructions properly and
FOLLOW them.
Independent book stores at which I used to meet many of
you through out the country throughout the country are closing, partly
due to the recession and also due to pressure from the big chain
stores. Sadly, I have received many letters complaining that, without
their local stores, finding my books necessitates a trip to a big
chain store, often miles away. I have therefore enlarged the bookstore
on my web site, and many of my books, indeed all of the out of print
books can be purchased by going to the site and hitting bookstore.
I am looking forward to a productive year writing. For the
first time in a decade, I shall attend the Romantic Times Convention,
which will be held in Columbus, Ohio. If you especially want to meet
me, please check the program and attend the panel on which I will
appear. I hope to see many of you there. If you attend the anniversary
Romance Slam Jam cruise, I’ll be there, too hoping to meet as many of
my readers as possible.
I sincerely wish for all a Happy Thanksgiving, Blessed
Christmas, and a Happy and prosperous Hew Year.
